What is Really Listening?
Really listening is the ability to put our own reality aside for a moment in order to be present to the reality of another. Our own realities consist of our perspectives, our needs, our emotions and our dreams.

When we use the Really Listening skills, we understand the other person’s reality as separate from our own and we invite another person to come forth in all of their thought and emotion. We consider their perspectives, needs, emotions and fears as separate from us and valid for them. We let them know that we have heard them and that their reality is as important as ours is. We allow their perspective to seep into us, impressing us with it’s validity and imperative. The benefits of really listening allow us to eventually become like rivers flowing into the sea, each from separate origins but all heading for the same place.
